“Act Fast: Nottingham Council Offers £100 Vouchers”

Thousands of households have a limited window to secure £100 in supermarket vouchers as Nottingham City Council offers support through the Household Support Fund. The deadline for applications is midnight tonight.

Although specific eligibility criteria have not been disclosed, it is anticipated that the vouchers will be granted to individuals with low income or those receiving benefits. Applications can be submitted on the Nottingham City Council website.

The council aims to notify applicants via email by December 12, with voucher distribution possibly extending until February 28, 2026. A total of 10,000 vouchers will be randomly allocated to successful households, regardless of previous receipt of council vouchers since April 2025.

Councillor Cheryl Barnard, Executive Member for Children, Young People, and Education, expressed satisfaction with the additional £1 million in support for vulnerable Nottingham residents during the winter months. This funding aims to alleviate financial pressures amid rising living costs.

The Household Support Fund, part of a £742 million national fund, assists councils in England in aiding vulnerable households with essential expenses like energy bills and food. Local councils, such as Wakefield Council, are also providing support tailored to their communities’ needs.

For instance, Wakefield Council is distributing food vouchers to low-income households receiving council tax assistance. Pensioners benefiting from Council Tax Support received a £70 voucher in November, with additional support forthcoming for other eligible households.

Starting December 15, families receiving Council Tax Support will receive a £50 voucher, while all other eligible households will be granted a £70 voucher from December 3 to December 12. Blackpool Council is offering energy assistance of £200 to qualifying households of one or two individuals and £300 for larger households.

To access this support, individuals must demonstrate financial hardship and challenges in bill payments, providing recent bank statements for all household members as evidence.
