“BT Introduces Smart Hub 3 Router with Enhanced Security & Wi-Fi 6 Support”

BT has introduced a new method to connect to the internet, offering more than just basic connectivity. The latest Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router from the company will soon be available in UK households, providing not only enhanced connectivity but also incorporating various security features.

Among its features is technology that can automatically detect harmful websites, alerting users to potential malware or other online dangers. Additionally, it has the capability to identify and block suspicious activities by hackers attempting to access smart home devices like internet-connected cameras.

Users will have access to real-time monitoring of detected threats through the Hub Threat Protect feature in the MyBT app. These enhancements aim to bolster online security for households and proactively prevent cyberattacks.

In addition to security, the Smart Hub 3 emphasizes performance as a focal point. Supporting Complete Wi-Fi Plus, it helps extend signal coverage throughout the home, minimizing dead zones in areas with weaker connectivity.

While the router’s aesthetic features a clean and minimalist design with a small BT logo at its center, it is important to note that it supports Wi-Fi 6 technology rather than the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard seen in some competing devices like those from EE.

Although Wi-Fi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and enhanced reliability, many current devices do not yet support this standard, making Wi-Fi 6 more than sufficient for most households and a significant upgrade from older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 technologies.

For those interested in acquiring the new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to new customers, with potential upgrade options available for existing users.

The distinction between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 lies in their wireless performance improvements. Wi-Fi 6 enhances speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4, while Wi-Fi 7 takes it a step further with wider channels, reduced latency, and even higher speeds, catering especially to gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home setups.

While Wi-Fi 6 remains a solid choice for most users today, Wi-Fi 7 provides a more forward-looking solution for future-proofing your connectivity needs.
