“Arrest Warrant Issued for Emmy-Winning Actor Timothy Busfield”

Emmy award-winning actor and director Timothy Busfield is currently facing serious allegations of child sexual abuse, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for the veteran Hollywood figure. Known for his roles in Field of Dreams and acclaimed TV series such as The West Wing and Thirtysomething, the 68-year-old star is under criminal investigation following a report from a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital in November 2024.

Allegations suggest that children, who were child actors and met Busfield on the set of the FOX series The Cleaning Lady where he directed, were involved in the reported incidents. Court documents filed by Albuquerque police on January 4 detail claims that Busfield instructed the siblings to call him “Uncle Tim” and engaged in inappropriate physical contact with them, including tickling their stomach and legs.

Hospital staff noted signs of grooming in the children, with one child alleging that the abuse started when they were just seven years old, with multiple instances of inappropriate contact by Busfield. Parents reported that Busfield grew closer to the boys during the series’ production. Further revelations indicated that the children’s mother discovered rumors of Busfield’s behavior and subsequently questioned her sons about any uncomfortable encounters, leading to concerning responses.

In 2025, one of the minors disclosed to a therapist that Busfield had touched their genitalia and bottom while on the set of the television show. Despite admitting to engaging in playful contact with the children on set, Busfield denied any wrongdoing when questioned by an officer. The actor, also recognized for his role in “Revenge of the Nerds,” now faces charges of sexual contact with a minor and child abuse, stemming from the allegations.

The status of Busfield’s formal booking remains unclear at this time, as indicated in his arrest warrant, which mentions previous sexual assault allegations dating back to 1994. With a career spanning over 700 credits in acting, producing, and directing in television and cinema, Busfield achieved an Emmy Award for his role in “Thirtysomething” in 1991. While well-known for his portrayal in “The West Wing,” he has also appeared in various films like “Stripes,” “Sneakers,” and “Quiz Show.”

In 2013, Busfield married Melissa Gilbert, and the couple does not have children together.
