Sky has launched new smart home plans in the UK that offer internet-connected cameras with cloud recordings starting at just £5 a month. This new offering aims to compete with popular home security devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. Sky’s plans include two options: the first plan features a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee. It provides full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage. For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized that the goal of Sky Smart Home is to make high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. The new plans mark a shift for Sky, as they now offer standalone smart home products instead of bundling them with Protect Smart Home Insurance. In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription.
Sky’s competitive pricing and comprehensive features aim to provide customers with affordable and convenient home security solutions, making it easier for individuals to stay connected to their homes effortlessly.
