Alan Carr has shared a poignant revelation about his past divorce, expressing feelings of being taken advantage of and struggling with trust issues. The 49-year-old, known for winning Celebrity Traitors, discussed his experiences on the BBC show ‘Amanda and Alan’s Greek Job’, co-hosted with Amanda Holden.
During a casual chat over Aperol Spritz cocktails, Alan and Amanda delved into the challenges of relationships, particularly divorce. Reflecting on his past, Alan highlighted instances where he felt undervalued and wished he had been more assertive. He admitted to finding it difficult to trust others, citing it as a major obstacle in starting new relationships.
Alan was previously in a 14-year relationship with his ex-husband, Paul Drayton. The couple, who got married in 2018 with Adele officiating the ceremony, faced strains during lockdown that led to their divorce in 2022. Paul, in an interview with The Sun during Alan’s time on Celebrity Traitors, described Alan as tolerant but decisive when feeling exploited, hinting at Alan’s adeptness at navigating relationships.
Despite the challenges, Alan remains resilient and introspective about his past experiences, emphasizing the importance of self-worth and trust in future relationships.
