In a public statement, Adichie blamed Euracare Hospital in Lagos, Nigeria, for her son’s death. She alleged that a medical incident at the hospital led to the tragic outcome despite plans for his medical evacuation to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Adichie claimed that her son was not adequately monitored after receiving a sedative during a medical procedure, leading to severe consequences. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, the one-year-old ultimately passed away at the hospital’s intensive care unit due to complications.
Euracare Hospital refuted the allegations of negligence, emphasizing its reputation for providing high-quality medical care with an experienced clinical team.
