“Steiner Backs Bearman as Potential Ferrari Replacement”

Former Haas team principal, Guenther Steiner, speculates that Lewis Hamilton’s tenure at Ferrari may be short-lived following a lackluster debut season. Steiner, aged 60, has endorsed young talent Oliver Bearman as a potential successor to Hamilton, anticipating a changing of the guard before the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Hamilton’s performance at Ferrari has sparked discussions due to his underwhelming start. Steiner suggests that if Hamilton’s struggles persist into the upcoming season, his association with the Italian outfit could end prematurely.

Bearman, who filled in for Carlos Sainz at the previous Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, has a connection with Ferrari after joining their Driving Academy in 2022. His impressive displays at Haas have caught Steiner’s attention, further fueling speculations about him replacing Hamilton.

In a recent segment on ‘The Red Flags podcast,’ Steiner expressed his support for Bearman as a potential replacement for Hamilton. Highlighting Bearman’s progress and clean driving, Steiner emphasized the youngster’s capabilities and potential impact at a top-tier team in the near future.

Bearman’s recent strong performances, including scoring points in his last four races, have positioned him close to surpassing Isack Hadjar and Nico Hulkenberg in the Drivers’ Championship Standings. Despite Bearman’s rise, Ferrari’s overall season has been disappointing, with no victories in the 2025 season and Hamilton yet to secure a podium finish after 21 races.

Ted Kravitz, a pitlane reporter for Sky Sports F1, echoes Steiner’s sentiments, foreseeing Bearman’s inevitable elevation to Ferrari. Kravitz emphasized on ‘The F1 Show’ that Bearman is poised to take over from Hamilton, given his consistent and impressive performances.

While speculation swirls around Hamilton’s future, the seven-time world champion hinted at staying put, citing his existing contract with Ferrari. Downplaying talks of an imminent departure, Hamilton emphasized his focus on the current season without delving into contract discussions.

Sky has recently enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle, now offering a comprehensive entertainment package including HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, and Hayu, alongside 135 channels and extensive coverage of Formula 1.
