BBC and “Death in Paradise” Mourn Loss of Commissioning Editor

The commissioning editor for “Death In Paradise” and “Beyond Paradise,” Danielle Scott-Haughton, has passed away at the age of 37, leading to an outpouring of tributes on social media. The news of her death was initially shared by The British Blacklist and later confirmed by the official Instagram page of “Death in Paradise.”

In a heartfelt tribute, it was expressed that Danielle was not only a brilliant BBC Commissioning Editor and producer but also a beloved friend of The British Blacklist and the larger Black British creative community. Known for her unwavering support of Black creatives and stories, Danielle was described as a dedicated advocate who believed in giving Black narratives the recognition and respect they deserved.

Lindsay Salt, BBC’s Director of Drama, and Kate Phillips, chief content officer, honored Danielle, highlighting her exceptional qualities of joy, intelligence, commitment, integrity, and talent. They emphasized her positive impact on the drama team with her infectious energy and kindness.

The team behind “Death in Paradise” also shared a touching tribute on their official Instagram account, remembering Danielle as a passionate advocate for the show and a source of inspiration with her enthusiasm, positivity, and dedication to excellence and care for others.
