Contepomi Labels England’s Tom Curry a “Bully”

Argentina’s head coach, Felipe Contepomi, labeled England’s Tom Curry as a “bully” and accused him of physically confronting him in a heated encounter in the tunnel following their 27-23 defeat at Allianz Stadium. The incident stemmed from Curry’s tackle on Juan Cruz Mallia, which resulted in Mallia leaving the field with a suspected ACL knee injury and Argentina playing with 14 men.

Contepomi expressed his displeasure, stating that Curry’s behavior was aggressive and disrespectful, especially considering the injury caused to their player. He highlighted Curry’s lack of remorse and suggested that such actions could pose risks in the game of rugby.

In response, England’s head coach, Steve Borthwick, defended Curry’s character, emphasizing his positive traits as a team player and respectful individual. Borthwick acknowledged the tunnel incident but stressed that he was not present during the altercation.

Despite the off-field drama, England secured their 11th consecutive victory by defeating Argentina in a hard-fought match. Borthwick commended his team’s performance and highlighted the ongoing development and potential for improvement in the squad.

The match showcased intense competition between the two teams, with England emerging victorious and continuing their winning streak. The coaches’ contrasting perspectives added a layer of intrigue to an already compelling contest.
