Recent data from SpeedGo reveals that Virgin Media leads the way in the UK with an impressive average download speed of 256.5Mbps. This speed translates to downloading a full HD movie in just over two minutes, significantly outpacing the national average by more than three times.
Following closely behind, Vodafone secures the second position with an average download speed of 175Mbps, with BT (EE) trailing in third place. Conversely, TalkTalk lags at the bottom of the rankings with an average speed of nearly 95Mbps.
The average download speeds of notable ISPs in the UK are as follows:

– Vodafone: 175.1Mbps

– Sky Broadband: 113.6Mbps
– TalkTalk: 94.7Mbps
Additionally, SpeedGo’s analysis includes upload speeds, crucial for users who frequently send large files or work remotely. Vodafone emerges on top in this category with an average upload speed of 83.6Mbps, surpassing Virgin Media, which secures the second position with 47.2Mbps.
Affirming these results, SpeedGo stated, “In 2025, Virgin Media provided the fastest broadband internet in the United Kingdom, boasting an average download speed of 256.5Mbps. Vodafone achieved the highest average upload speed at 83.6Mbps.”
