“River Island Recalls Pink Floral Handbag Over Lead Hazard”

River Island has issued a product recall for the Pink Floral Heat Seal Droplet Bucket Handbag due to elevated lead levels in its gold chain, posing a chemical hazard to consumers. Exposure to lead can result in kidney and circulatory system damage, especially risky for pregnant individuals. The item code affected is 927917.

In an online recall notice, River Island stated that the decision to recall the item was driven by their commitment to product quality and customer safety. The company identified higher-than-permitted lead levels in the handle through diligent testing, not meeting their safety standards. Consumers are urged to cease using the handbag and make arrangements for returning it.

Although the risk of harm is considered low, River Island emphasized the toxicity of lead when ingested or mouthed for extended periods. As a precautionary measure, the recall was initiated immediately to prioritize customer safety. The company apologized for any inconvenience caused and assured customers of a full refund upon return.

For returns, customers can send the product to River Island Customer Service Parcels Freepost, MK17 8EW, for both in-store and online purchases. Questions can be directed to customer.services@river-island.com or by calling 03445 766 444.

To stay informed about other product recalls, consumers are advised to check the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Chartered Trading Standards (CTS) Institute websites. Recall notices will also be displayed in stores if products have been removed from shelves.

Notable recalls include Tesco recalling its Celery Fruit and Nut Salad 300g due to undeclared mustard, posing a risk to individuals with mustard allergies. Kendamil infant milk and Amazon’s Petiyark Neoprene Swim Vest have also been recalled for safety reasons related to expiry dates and drowning risks, respectively.
