“Teen nearly drowned by boyfriend over baby shower pics”

A pregnant young woman was violently pulled into a pond and almost drowned by her partner after she shared photos of them at their baby shower. The teenager, who remains unidentified, posted pictures of herself and her baby’s father, Dominic Thomas, on Facebook. However, instead of being pleased with the images, Thomas reacted aggressively.

The 19-year-old father had been in a secret relationship with another woman and was concerned that she would see the photos of him and his pregnant girlfriend online. His apprehensions proved valid when his clandestine lover discovered the pictures. Thomas, hailing from Kansas, USA, proceeded to send threatening messages to the mother of his child, stating his dissatisfaction with her presence in his life and implying violent actions.

He menacingly declared, “It’s not a threat, it’s a promise,” and callously added, “I won’t care about the consequences.” Subsequently, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempted murder. The pregnant girlfriend, aged 17 at the time, responded to his threats by highlighting the impact on their unborn child. Despite Thomas’s dismissive attitude, she warned him that any harm to her would result in harm to their baby.

According to law enforcement officials, the couple had been embroiled in arguments after the girlfriend discovered Thomas’s infidelity. The incident report revealed that after a baby shower where photos were taken and posted on Facebook, Thomas began sending threatening messages to his girlfriend, culminating in the tragic event at a pond in Wichita.

During the confrontation at the pond, Thomas confessed his despair and intentions before physically assaulting the young woman. Despite the harrowing ordeal of being dragged into the water and struggling to breathe, she managed to convey the gravity of their situation, prompting Thomas to cease his attack. Although he admitted to desiring her demise due to the complications arising from his dual relationships, he was eventually convicted of attempted first-degree murder in a trial held in 2024.
