Tesco is set to distribute numerous free Christmas trees for a single day only. These “wonky” Christmas trees, typically not fit for sale due to imperfections like uneven branches or slight leans, will be given away at select Tesco stores on Saturday, December 6. Recipients are encouraged to donate to the food charities Fareshare and Trussell.
The free trees will be available at specific locations including Colney Hatch Extra, Borehamwood Extra, Hammersmith, Southport Extra, Goole Superstore, Glossop Superstore, Bristol Brislington Extra, Cardiff Extra, Dundee Riverside Extra, and Glasgow Maryhill Extra. Starting at 10am, the offer is limited to one tree per household on a first-come, first-served basis. Comparable Christmas trees at other retailers cost £13.99 from Aldi and £14.99 from Home Bargains.
Tesco’s UK CEO, Ashwin Prasad, emphasized embracing the imperfect charm of these trees, stating they can still bring joy and support the food charity partners. A recent survey by Tesco revealed that most Brits do not expect a perfect Christmas, with many finding value in the imperfect moments that define the holiday season.
In addition to the Christmas tree giveaway, Tesco is offering Clubcard members double points for every £1 spent on gift cards throughout December. This promotion applies to all third-party gift cards purchased at Tesco stores, automatically crediting Clubcard accounts with double points. Tesco has approximately 24 million Clubcard members, earning points on various purchases including groceries, fuel, Tesco Mobile, Tesco credit card expenditures, and Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card transactions. Members can redeem 150 points for a £1.50 voucher to spend at Tesco.
