“Verstappen’s Future Uncertain as Marko Departs Red Bull”

Helmut Marko shared that Max Verstappen felt saddened by the news of the veteran Austrian’s departure from Red Bull. Marko also suggested that the four-time Formula 1 World champion would leave the team if they fail to maintain a conducive environment for his success.

Marko, 82 years old, will step down after serving as an advisor to the team for two decades. He played a significant role in bringing Verstappen into the Red Bull family, outbidding Mercedes for his talent.

The bond between Marko and Verstappen was notably strong. Verstappen publicly supported Marko during internal team issues, even hinting at leaving if Marko was no longer part of the team, referring to him as a father figure.

In an interview with an Austrian publication, Marko shared Verstappen’s reaction to his departure, reminiscing about their shared memories and successes. Marko dismissed concerns about Verstappen leaving the team, stating that the Dutch driver accepted his decision.

However, Marko emphasized that Verstappen prioritizes a harmonious environment for success, warning that he would leave abruptly if such an atmosphere is lacking. Red Bull’s official statement portrayed Marko’s exit as voluntary, with the team expressing regret over his decision.

Reports suggest tensions between Marko and Red Bull’s leadership had been escalating, fueled by disputes over public remarks and unauthorized signings to the junior program. Marko refuted these claims as baseless rumors.
