A resourceful young woman shared her experience of exploring three different countries within a single day for just £33, all without taking a flight.
Chyna Brown, hailing from Hampshire, undertook a solo journey from London to Basel, Switzerland, and utilized the strategic location of the city to seamlessly cross over to Germany and France in under a day.
The 23-year-old’s journey commenced with a flight from London Gatwick to Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, a short 1 hour and 40-minute trip. Upon arrival, she acquired a tram ticket for a mere 10.70 CHF (£9.93) and spent May 30 immersing herself in the diverse cultures of the three neighboring nations.
Her itinerary included strolling along the Rhine in Switzerland before hopping on a brief 12-minute tram ride to Weil am Rhein Dreiländerbrücke in Germany, where she marveled at the Three Countries Bridge offering panoramic views of each country.
Crossing into Huningue, France, Chyna savored the delights of charming French bistros serving escargot. Remarkably, her total expenditure for the day amounted to just £33.17, finding the city exceptionally conducive for pedestrian exploration.
Chyna, who holds a role as a social media manager, shared, “I landed at Basel Airport, situated in France, although my stay was in Switzerland. Upon discovering this locale through TikTok and online research, I found it intriguing and a fantastic way to immerse myself in diverse cultures.”
House-sitting through TrustedHousesitters while in Basel, she managed to avoid accommodation expenses during her inaugural solo escapade.
During her sojourn, she dedicated her early afternoon to discovering Switzerland, meandering through the retail district, town hall, and historic center.
Recalling her experience, she expressed, “I leisurely walked along the Rhine river on a beautiful sunny day, observing people lounging along the riverbanks and in small boats. Subsequently, I hopped on a 12-minute tram ride to Weil am Rhein Dreliänderbrücke.”
Her day culminated back at her lodging by 6:30 pm, where she reflected on the rich tapestry of experiences encountered throughout her multi-national journey.
