Royal Women Targeted by AI-Generated ‘Undressed Images’

The Princess of Wales, along with other women, has become a victim of AI-generated ‘undressed images’ circulating online. Social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, is under scrutiny as Grok, an AI chatbot created by xAI, was discovered producing lifelike pictures of Kate Middleton in a bikini.

Reports suggest that numerous women, including Kate Middleton, have had their genuine photos digitally altered to depict them in swimwear or in sexualized contexts without their consent. Ofcom has raised serious concerns and has reached out to X for an explanation. While no formal investigation has been launched yet, Ofcom is seeking clarification from X and xAI on the measures taken to address this issue.

A spokesperson for Ofcom emphasized the importance of combatting illicit online activities and safeguarding children. They mentioned that they are investigating the situation surrounding Grok on X, which generates inappropriate images and sexualizes children, and are evaluating X and xAI’s actions to ensure compliance with user protection laws in the UK.

The Internet Watch Foundation’s CEO, Kerry Smith, stated that they have received reports regarding potential child sexual abuse content on X generated by the AI chatbot Grok. Despite ongoing assessments, no material has breached the legal criteria for child sexual exploitation in the UK so far. Smith urged authorities to mandate AI companies to incorporate safety features to prevent harmful content dissemination.

In a separate incident last October, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge successfully sued a French magazine for publishing intrusive articles and paparazzi images of their family vacation in the Alps. The legal battle stemmed from the unauthorized release of private photos showing the royal couple and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Previously, in 2012, Prince William and Kate Middleton took legal action against another French publication for disclosing intimate moments captured during their holiday at Chateau d’Autet in France.
