Sir Paul McCartney’s former spouse, Heather Mills, sustained injuries in a frightening skiing mishap. The 57-year-old, who is a mother and Paralympic skier, suffered the accident while in Austria for a business engagement, navigating the Alpine slopes in the Hinterglemm area. Despite a setback at the beginning of the new year, the vegan advocate expressed gratitude that only her prosthetic leg brace was damaged during the incident.
Following the incident that left her leg brace broken and swollen, Heather, who lost part of her left leg in a prior accident, remained positive. She shared a photo of herself on crutches, clad in a vibrant orange ski outfit, alongside a friend.
In a post accompanying the picture, where she appeared without her prosthetic leg, Heather reassured her followers, stating, “I hope everyone had a fantastic start to the New Year. Fortunately, I only broke my prosthetic leg brace on the final ski run of the last day; a bit swollen, but no major injuries.”
A spokesperson, discussing the accident with the Mail, disclosed that Heather would need crutches for five days as a result. They explained, “During the last run of the day, on an empty slope, Heather attempted to pick up speed, causing her leg brace to give way due to excessive force. Thankfully, no bones were broken, but she will need crutches until the swelling in her residual limb subsides.”
Expressing gratitude that the mishap occurred at the end of her trip, Heather’s spokesperson added, “Heather will have to visit the prosthetic clinic for repairs to the brace. Fortunately, the leg itself remains intact, requiring only a short fix.”
Despite the temporary setback, Heather, a former member of the British Disabled Ski Team, spent the Christmas holiday with her partner, filmmaker and actor Mike Dickman, 39. The couple, who first met in 2019 and have been spotted together at various public events, including the premiere of The Flying Dutchman in Vienna last summer, enjoyed a festive excursion to New York recently.
During an interview on ITV’s Lorraine in 2024, Heather advised singles to engage in real-life interactions rather than relying solely on dating apps. She shared, “I don’t usually discuss personal matters out of respect for privacy, but yes, we met on a train. It doesn’t always have to be through a dating app; just strike up conversations with people.”
