“Sky Glass vs. Freely: New Streaming Options Revolutionize TV”

The trend of streaming services gaining popularity is on the rise as companies compete to attract households away from traditional TV viewing methods. Sky has introduced its new Glass TV, featuring enhanced display quality, easy setup, and improved sound from the integrated speakers and soundbar.

Unlike older TV systems, Sky Glass does not require a satellite dish, as all content is delivered to its high-definition 4K screen via the internet. While the service offers top-notch entertainment, users must subscribe to a monthly plan to access its premium content.

For those hesitant to commit to a long-term contract, there is now a free alternative for streaming live and on-demand content. Freely, launched last year, provides a straightforward way to enjoy entertainment online without the need for an antenna, as it includes all the necessary features to access channels.

Initially lagging behind Sky Glass in terms of channel selection and features, Freely has since made significant improvements. The service is expanding to a variety of new TV models, including those from Philips and JVC, in addition to existing brands like Amazon Fire TV, Panasonic, and Toshiba.

Freely is enhancing user experience with three key updates, including a Backwards TV Guide allowing viewers to catch up on past programming, an upgraded recommendation system called Never Miss, and a feature called My List enabling users to save up to 50 favorite shows from major free-to-air broadcasters.

Sarah Milton, Co-Chief Product Officer at Freely, emphasized the platform’s commitment to improving user experience by introducing new features such as the Backwards TV Guide, Never Miss, and My List. These enhancements aim to make it easier for viewers to access quality content, whether live or on demand, for free. With Freely becoming available on a wider range of smart TVs, more households can enjoy this enhanced streaming experience.
