The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has verified that an engine failure led to an emergency landing of a private Cessna 182P on Highway 587 northeast of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The plane declared an emergency and made a forced landing in Pass Lake, with three individuals on board who fortunately escaped injury. TSBC spokesperson Liam MacDonald mentioned that investigators have not yet been dispatched but are in the process of collecting information.
Pass Lake, a small unincorporated area in the Thunder Bay district located approximately 55 kilometers northeast of the city, was the site of the incident. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region received a notification around 2:45 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday. According to regional media and communications coordinator Erin McCrea, the pilot successfully landed the plane, resulting in only a partial closure of Highway 587. The aircraft was promptly cleared from the scene.
Even though the Pass Lake Volunteer Fire Protection Team was alerted and responded, no action was necessary, as confirmed in a post on their Facebook page on Monday.
