Tiger Woods Changes Plea to No Contest in Reckless Driving Case

Tiger Woods has changed his plea to no contest for a reckless driving charge in Florida. The renowned golfer initially pleaded not guilty to a DUI charge. The incident occurred when Woods’ SUV made contact with a truck and overturned on a residential road in Jupiter Island. According to a sheriff’s report, two pain pills were found in Woods’ possession, and he displayed signs of impairment. Although his Breathalyzer test yielded negative results, he declined to undergo a urine test.

Appearing in Martin County’s courtroom, located just north of Palm Beach County, Woods, 50, made minimal statements during the proceedings and was accompanied by his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, the former daughter-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump. Fortunately, neither Woods nor the individual in the other vehicle sustained injuries during the collision. However, Woods’ Land Rover caused $5,000 US worth of damage to the truck, as per a police report. Woods informed a deputy that he was distracted by his phone and adjusting the radio station at the time of the accident.

While a prominent figure in golf, Woods has faced setbacks due to various surgeries on his back and knees, as well as incidents involving car crashes and reliance on pain medication. Having been in four accidents throughout his career, Woods took breaks from the golf tour following a crash in 2009 and again after this recent incident, delaying his return to tournament competition.
