Israeli Airstrike Kills Palestinian Child in Gaza

An Israeli airstrike in the central Gaza Strip on Sunday resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, including a three-year-old child, as reported by health officials. The strike occurred near a bakery in Deir al-Balah and claimed the lives of Tayyem Hamdan, 3, and Hussam Nusair, along with causing injuries to several others.

According to Gaza medics, the Israeli military targeted and killed a Hamas militant in the operation. The military stated that Nusair was involved in orchestrating attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. However, Hamas refrained from immediate comments on the military’s assertions.

Despite a U.S.-backed ceasefire last October that temporarily reduced major conflict in the region, Israeli military actions have persisted, purportedly to prevent attacks by Hamas and other Gaza militants. Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire terms and impeding the implementation of a broader peace initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which includes Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.

Since the ceasefire took effect last October, over 1,300 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza, as reported by Gazan health officials. In contrast, the Israeli military has confirmed the deaths of four Israeli soldiers during the same period.
