“Civilian and Police Cruiser Collide in Ontario Crash”

Ontario’s police watchdog is currently examining a significant collision that occurred between a vehicle and a police cruiser on Sunday afternoon north of London. The incident took place at the junction of Nairn Road and Centre Road in North Middlesex around 3:30 p.m., prompting the swift response of emergency services to the scene. Both an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) vehicle and a civilian car were involved in the crash, leading to serious injuries for both the OPP officer and the civilian driver.

Following the incident, Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was called in to investigate. The SIU’s jurisdiction covers cases involving police officers and civilians that result in severe harm, fatalities, or allegations of sexual assault. As a result of the collision, the OPP had to close off the intersection of Nairn and Centre roads for several hours on Sunday to facilitate the investigation.
