“Windsor’s October Election: Diverse Candidates Vie for Seats”

Local voters will soon discover their choices for the upcoming October municipal election. The nomination period will officially close at 2 p.m. on the same day. The city of Windsor will see the election of a mayor and 10 councilors on October 26.

The mayoral race includes incumbent Drew Dilkens, who announced his intention to run for a fourth term just before the nomination deadline. Other contenders for mayor include current Ward 1 councillor Fred Francis and nine additional candidates, such as Kat Pasquach, an artist, business owner, and CEO of Can Am Urban Native Non-Profit Homes.

Moving on to the council races, Ward 1 will have six candidates vying for the seat, including Darcie Renaud, Linda Qin, and Frank Providenti. Ward 2 incumbent Frazier Fathers faces competition from Anthony Jabbour and Nick Markham.

Incumbent Renaldo Agostino in Ward 3 faces challenges from Rabia Kirma and Spiro S. Spiliadis. In Ward 4, the departure of incumbent Mark McKenzie has led to a list of five candidates, including Chris Holt. Ward 5 will see a new councillor, with candidates like Ken Acton and Natasha Elizabeth Feghali.

In Ward 6, seven candidates are running to replace the outgoing Jo-Anne Gignac, including Wendi Nicholson. Ward 7 incumbent Angelo Marignani contends with Beth Ann Prince and Victoria Soluade. Ward 8 incumbent Gary Kaschak is up against Kevin Racine. Ward 9 incumbent Kieran McKenzie faces off against Soham Patel. Lastly, Ward 10 incumbent Jim Morrison will compete against Wally Chafchak, Adam Ibrahim, and Mark Masanovich.
