Ottawa police have apprehended more than a dozen individuals and pressed multiple charges following a collaborative effort with a downtown business troubled by theft. The Ottawa Police Service reported the apprehension of 17 individuals on Thursday as part of a series of targeted operations conducted jointly with the loss prevention team of a business between July 12 and August 18. The targeted store is situated on the 300 block of Rideau Street, a few blocks east of the Rideau Centre. It is important to note that this operation is distinct from the ongoing initiative to combat theft at the mall. The charges brought against the individuals include theft under $5,000 and creating a disturbance.
