Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame Reveals 2026 Inductees

The 2026 inductees of the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame, featuring Jamaal Magloire, Dave Smart, and Miranda Ayim, were scheduled for induction on Thursday. Magloire, known for his 12 seasons in the NBA, notably became the first Canadian to play for the Toronto Raptors in 2011 and was an all-star with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2004.

Beyond his playing career, Magloire also contributed as an assistant coach for the Raptors during their championship season in 2018-19 and currently holds the position of vice-president for the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

Smart’s legacy lies in his remarkable tenure as the head coach of the Carleton Ravens men’s team, leading them to an impressive 13 U Sports championships. Ayim, a prominent figure in Canadian basketball, captained the senior women’s national team and shared the role of flag-bearer with Nathan Hirayama at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

The class of 2026 was unveiled on July 2, featuring additional members Michael Meeks, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, Teresa Kleindienst, Peter (Doc) Ryan, Janice Deakin, and Dr. Andrew Pipe, who will all be honored at an upcoming ceremony in St. Stephen, N.B.
