P.E.I. RCMP have confirmed that two individuals were killed in a shooting incident in western P.E.I. last summer, with both cases now classified as homicides. The investigation into the events that took place on August 8, 2025, on Hackmatack Road in Urbainville is ongoing, as stated in a recent police news release.
Cpl. Gavin Moore, the media relations officer for P.E.I. RCMP, emphasized the seriousness of the investigation, noting that such occurrences are rare in the province. The incident, which occurred around 8 p.m. on August 8, 2025, involved gunfire, leading to a vehicle crashing into a ditch. The driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old man, sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.
Initially, a 50-year-old woman was reported to have been seriously injured and later succumbed to her injuries. However, the latest police update clarified that her death was a result of injuries sustained during the crash. The RCMP disclosed that the shooting was targeted, with reports suggesting another vehicle was present at the scene, and the perpetrator fled afterward.
Furthermore, law enforcement had shared a photograph of a white 2007 Honda Accord, indicating a potential connection to the incident.
