The Winnipeg Sea Bears emerged victorious as the 2026 champions of the Canadian Elite Basketball League by defeating the Brampton Honey Badgers with a score of 98-84 in the league’s single-game championship showdown. The Sea Bears secured their win in front of a record-breaking crowd at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg.
In a thrilling finale with a target score of 97, Simon Hildebrandt, a Winnipeg native, sealed the championship for the Sea Bears by sinking the decisive shot, clinching a 98-84 win over the Honey Badgers. Xavier Moon, a three-time CEBL MVP, led the Sea Bears in scoring with an impressive 29 points.
Despite their efforts, the Honey Badgers aimed to secure their second CEBL title following their 2022 victory when the team was located in Hamilton.
