The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into a collision between a police cruiser and a civilian vehicle in Pickering, Ontario. The incident occurred on Kingston Road around 7:30 p.m. while a Durham Regional Police officer was en route to an emergency call. The crash happened at the intersection of Kingston Road and Brock Road, resulting in injuries to the occupants of the civilian vehicle. Among them, a child sustained a serious injury and was taken to the hospital.
Durham police stated that their officers were heading to a call when the collision occurred. Following the incident, the SIU was notified and began its investigation. Kingston Road was shut down at Brock Road, and southbound traffic on Brock Road from Finch Avenue was also halted for accident examination. By 2 a.m. the next day, the roads had reopened for normal traffic.
