A medical professional has shared the distressing experience of trying to assist Alex Pretti after he was shot by an ICE agent, revealing the actions of the shooter following the incident.
Alex Pretti tragically lost his life in Minneapolis on January 24 amidst ongoing protests against ICE agents and the Trump administration’s immigration policies. The doctor recounted that instead of providing immediate aid, federal agents were observed “tallying his gunshot wounds.” The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that the agents fired in self-defense, citing Pretti’s possession of a handgun during the altercation.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara mentioned that Pretti, an ICU nurse, was believed to have a legal firearm permit. However, there is no evidence suggesting any hostile intentions towards law enforcement during his participation in the protest.
An eyewitness present at the scene contradicted the DHS statements in a court document, stating that they did not witness Pretti displaying any weapon towards the agents. The witness, described as a physician, recalled seeing ICE agents pushing Pretti to the ground before multiple agents aimed their weapons at him and subsequently fired multiple shots.
The witness recounted their efforts to aid Pretti’s injuries, highlighting the agents’ focus on counting his gunshot wounds rather than providing medical assistance. Expressing confusion over the agents’ actions, the witness emphasized the standard procedure of checking for vital signs and administering CPR, which was not carried out.
