Hundreds of families in Surrey may qualify for £300 in supermarket vouchers to assist with living expenses. The initiative, part of the Household Support Fund provided by Surrey County Council, aims to aid vulnerable households in accessing essential supplies.
Residents of Surrey can apply for the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher scheme if they are facing difficulties affording food and necessities. These vouchers are redeemable at various supermarkets such as Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose.
To be eligible for the scheme, individuals must be over 18 years old, reside in Surrey, maintain household savings of £2,000 or less over a 90-day period, and have an annual household income below £27,007.50 before tax deductions.
Applicants are required to disclose their income details and any benefits received by their household. The application window for vouchers opens monthly, with the next round available from February 3. If the current month’s deadline is missed, applications can be resubmitted starting from March 2.
Residents outside of Surrey should seek assistance from their local councils for similar support. For instance, Nottingham City Council is offering £100 vouchers to low-income individuals, with distribution ongoing until February 28, 2026.
Successful distribution of vouchers will be done randomly, with 10,000 households receiving support. Even those who have previously received vouchers from the council can reapply, dating back to April 2025.
Other councils like Wakefield Council and Blackpool Council are also providing assistance in the form of food vouchers and energy support to qualifying households in need. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate financial hardship and provide recent bank statements for all household members.
