The Original Factory Shop recently enlisted the help of administrators from Interpath Advisory as it deals with financial challenges. This move has put 137 of its stores and around 1,180 jobs in jeopardy. While the physical stores are still operating normally, the online platform has been temporarily closed for evaluation.
According to the administrators, The Original Factory Shop has been struggling with increased costs, including rising labor expenses and reduced consumer spending. Additionally, issues related to its third-party warehouse and logistics provider have further complicated the situation. The retailer, established in 1969, was acquired by Modella Capital last year.
Rick Harrison, the managing director at Interpath and one of the joint administrators, expressed regret over the circumstances, citing trading difficulties as the reason for the administration. The administrators are collaborating with the retailer’s staff to explore options for the business while aiming to continue operations across all stores.
