The leaked document surfaced after Kemi Badenoch removed Jenrick from her Shadow Cabinet upon learning of his defection intentions.
Previously mocked as “Robert Generic” by critics, the seasoned Conservative Member of Parliament swiftly joined Reform UK. Internal documents from Jenrick’s team, uncovered by Badenoch, indicated a planned defection within a few days, labeling him the most noteworthy defector Reform UK has ever seen and emphasizing his potential leadership within the Conservative Party.
Describing him as the “new sheriff in town,” the document portrayed Jenrick as bringing experience and political weight to Reform’s activities while pledging support for Farage. A source close to Jenrick denied his involvement in drafting the document, with a spokesperson clarifying his role as a member of Farage’s team aiming to assist in making him Prime Minister and highlighting Reform’s commitment to reforming Britain.
Meanwhile, Tracy Brabin, the Labour Mayor of West Yorkshire, criticized Reform UK as a refuge for unsuccessful Tories, insinuating that those who struggle in the Conservative Party or foresee limitations in leadership opportunities are defecting to Reform UK.
Reform UK has also celebrated a recent defection from the Labour Party. When asked about potential defectors on Sky News, Lisa Nandy humorously denied any involvement, including Health Secretary Wes Streeting, dismissing the idea with a jest. Nandy refrained from ruling out the possibility of Nigel Farage leading a fascist government if he attains the Prime Minister position but emphasized the importance of unity and avoiding divisive labels.
