Russia Threatens Nuclear Strike on Europe Amid Ukraine Conflict

Russia has issued a direct threat of using nuclear weapons against the UK and mainland Europe. Sergey Karaganov, the head of Russia’s Council for Foreign and Defense Policy, stated that if Russia faces defeat in Ukraine, Vladimir Putin would resort to nuclear weapons, resulting in Europe’s physical destruction.

Karaganov criticized his own government for showing excessive patience towards Europe. In an interview with American commentator Tucker Carlson, he expressed his dissatisfaction, mentioning that if Europe continues to support the ongoing conflict, severe consequences will follow.

Describing the idea of a Russian defeat as a mere illusion, Karaganov highlighted what he called an intellectual incapacity among European leaders. He pointed out the decline in Europe’s global influence and intellectual prowess over the years.

Karaganov emphasized that European leaders fail to fully grasp the situation, attributing this to what he perceives as a degradation in intellectual capacity since 1968. He noted the complacency of European nations towards the horrors of war and stressed Russia’s objective to bring them to their senses without resorting to nuclear weapons.

As tensions escalate globally, the UK has deployed a military officer to Greenland following Denmark’s increased military presence in the Arctic and High North. This move comes amidst calls by Donald Trump for the US to take control of the region.

Denmark’s defense minister, Troels Lund Poulsen, highlighted the unpredictability of future events, signaling a joint operation involving allied countries to bolster security in the region. Several nations, including Germany, Sweden, Norway, and France, have committed personnel to the mission aimed at enhancing regional security cooperation.

The security concerns have been heightened by President Trump’s persistent push for US control over Greenland to prevent Russian or Chinese dominance in the area. This stance has raised apprehensions about the future of the transatlantic alliance, with the US administration even considering the use of force to annex Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark.
