“Nigel Farage Welcomes 24th Tory MP to Reform UK”

Kemi Badenoch expressed gratitude towards Nigel Farage for handling her party’s internal issues by welcoming former Tory member Robert Jenrick to Reform UK. Badenoch’s acknowledgment came after she took swift action to remove Jenrick from the Shadow Cabinet upon learning of his defection plans. Nigel Farage, despite previously criticizing Jenrick, embraced him into his party, marking the 24th former Tory MP to join Reform UK.

In various interviews, Badenoch criticized Jenrick, labeling him as someone who frequently lies and cannot be trusted. When asked if Jenrick was considered a “traitor,” Badenoch shifted the responsibility to Farage, stating that Jenrick was now his concern. She expressed satisfaction with Farage’s involvement, likening it to a form of “spring cleaning” for the Conservative Party, as individuals causing problems were transitioning to Reform. Badenoch downplayed the significance of the defection, emphasizing that the public was not interested in the internal turmoil within the Tory party.

Labour minister Pat McFadden remarked on the ongoing political chaos on the right side of the political spectrum, highlighting a lack of unity and continuity. McFadden emphasized Labour’s commitment to enhancing public services and criticized the distraction caused by internal conflicts within political parties.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves responded to Farage’s claim of a potential Labour defection to Reform with skepticism, cautioning against taking Farage’s statements at face value. Reeves advised approaching Farage’s assertions with caution due to his propensity for making bold claims.
