“Former Tory Accuses Party of Being ‘Arsonists'”

Tensions escalated between the Tories and Reform as former Conservative member Robert Jenrick accused his old party of being led by “arsonists.” Jenrick’s move to Reform was met with swift retaliation from Kemi Badenoch, who removed him from the Shadow Cabinet and the party upon learning of his intentions.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Jenrick criticized his former colleagues, stating that he had lost faith in the party’s ability to acknowledge and rectify its mistakes. Referring to the current Conservative leadership as “arsonists,” Jenrick highlighted his decision to prioritize national interests over personal ambitions by joining Reform, despite facing backlash from Badenoch.

Badenoch responded by denouncing Jenrick as a liar and rejecting any potential collaboration between the Tories and Reform. Labeling Jenrick and his supporters as destabilizing elements, she emphasized the public’s fatigue with political theatrics and discord.

Former Cabinet Minister Robert Buckland expressed disappointment in Jenrick’s transformation, likening him to a lesser version of a divisive political figure. Additionally, Michael Gove cautioned Jenrick about the repercussions of disloyalty, drawing from his own past experiences with public perception.

Labour chairwoman Anna Turley criticized Jenrick’s switch to Reform, branding him as a “fraud” and accusing him of contributing to the turmoil during the Conservative government’s tenure. Turley warned against endorsing Jenrick’s shift to Reform, citing it as a continuation of the disruptive policies that hindered the country’s progress.

Meanwhile, Labour dismissed Nigel Farage’s claims of an upcoming defection to Reform, with Chancellor Rachel Reeves advising skepticism towards Farage’s statements.
