Lifeguard Drowns at Brazilian Water Park

A tragic incident occurred at Wet’n Wild water park in Itupeva, Brazil, where a 24-year-old lifeguard, Guilherme da Guerra Domingos, lost his life while attempting to retrieve a tourist’s ring from a pool. According to authorities, he was pulled underwater by the pool’s drainage system and drowned.

The incident unfolded at the Water Bomb attraction, prompting Guilherme’s colleagues to intervene when he failed to resurface. They quickly pulled him out of the water and administered first aid while awaiting emergency medical assistance. Despite efforts to save him, Guilherme passed away shortly after being transported to Nossa Senhora Aparecida Municipal Hospital.

Reports indicate that Guilherme had been an employee at the park for over two years and had recently been promoted to sector leader. Wet’n Wild clarified that the Water Bomb attraction does not feature a bottom drain, with its hydraulic system relying on side drains positioned away from the water slide exit and visitor areas.

City officials confirmed that the park maintains compliance with all necessary regulations. Additionally, the park management announced the temporary closure of the facility following the tragic incident and expressed support for Guilherme’s family as inquiries into the event continue.

Guilherme’s body was taken to the Forensic Medical Institute in Jundiaí before being laid to rest in Bragança Paulista. The company emphasized its commitment to assisting authorities in their investigations and pledged to cooperate fully in the aftermath of the unfortunate loss.
