BBC co-commentator Steve Cram has urged Winter Olympic officials to address the behavior of the Canada curling team following their victory over Team GB with a score of 9-5.
Brad Jacobs’ team has been embroiled in controversy during their time in Milan and Cortina. The BBC had to issue an apology after Canada’s Marc Kennedy was involved in a heated exchange with Swedish player Oskar Eriksson, which included inappropriate language.
Kennedy also faced allegations of improper stone handling during the match against Sweden, prompting World Curling to clarify the rules. Despite this, the BBC commentary team once again criticized the Canadians for their language.
During a break in the recent match, the Canadian team was caught swearing within earshot of TV cameras, leading to disapproval from Cram and fellow commentator Logan Gray.
Expressing his concern, Cram emphasized the need for officials to address the Canadians’ behavior, with Gray referring to their language as inappropriate. At that point in the game, Canada had secured a 3-1 lead after the third end crucially.
In the aftermath of their loss to Canada, Team GB faced a tough challenge to secure a spot in the semi-finals, especially after a previous defeat to Norway. A victory against both Canada and the USA was necessary to secure a place in the upcoming semi-final match.
Even with a potential win against the USA, Team GB may still need favorable outcomes in other matches to advance to the semi-finals. The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, running from February 6-22, offers fans over 850 hours of live action on discovery+ via Prime Video.
