Following an investigation, it was determined through an autopsy that a mother named Renee Good was fatally shot by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. The examination, requested by Renee’s family, revealed that she sustained gunshot wounds to her left forearm and breast, with the latter not causing life-threatening injuries as it missed vital organs.
Additionally, the autopsy indicated that a third bullet entered Renee’s head near her temple and exited from the right side, causing a graze wound. This information was provided by legal representatives working on behalf of the family. The examination was conducted by an independent medical pathologist of high repute, as stated by the family’s attorneys, including Antonio M. Romanucci, known for his involvement in previous high-profile cases such as that of George Floyd.
The family’s legal team expressed confidence in their case, citing video evidence from the incident on January 7, 2026. They emphasized the importance of evaluating the events based on standards of reasonable policing and the overall circumstances. Notably, the official autopsy report from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office is still pending.
Renee, aged 37, was shot while seated in her SUV during an altercation involving ICE agent Jonathan Ross. The sequence of events leading to the shooting involved Ross recording Renee and her partner with a mobile phone before positioning himself in front of their vehicle.
Subsequently, another ICE agent instructed Renee to exit the SUV, prompting her to move the vehicle forward. Conflicting reports emerged regarding whether Renee intentionally struck Ross with the car, although video footage suggested she was attempting to avoid him.
After the shooting, Ross was heard making derogatory remarks before Renee’s SUV collided with parked cars. The incident has sparked polarized reactions among Americans, with conservatives justifying Ross’ actions while liberals have decried the fatal outcome.
Despite lacking evidence, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem labeled Renee as a “domestic terrorist” and defended Ross, suggesting he acted in self-defense. In contrast, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey criticized federal authorities, demanding ICE to leave the city. An ongoing FBI investigation is underway to probe the shooting incident.
