“3 Major UK Banks Closing 71 Branches Amid Online Banking Boom”

Three leading high street banks are planning to shut down 71 branches next year due to the increasing trend of online banking. Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, which are all part of Lloyds Banking Group, cited the shift towards digital banking as the reason for these closures, initially announced earlier this year.

The closure list comprises 40 Lloyds branches, 14 Halifax locations, and 17 Bank of Scotland sites. If your branch is affected, there are alternative options available to you.

Customers of Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland can conduct their everyday banking at branches of any of the three banks. Additionally, they can explore the possibility of using a “banking hub,” where a bank operates in a shared public space on the high street.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group emphasized the changing banking habits, with over 21 million customers opting for apps to manage their finances. The group aims to provide enhanced choices by blending digital convenience with personalized customer service. In addition to the mobile app, customers have access to any Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland branch, as well as Post Offices and banking hubs for their banking needs, including cash deposits at over 30,000 PayPoint locations.
