A substantial £10,000 reward is now available to aid in locating a suspect believed to have fled to Turkey following the brutal killing of his romantic rival. Crimestoppers has announced the reward in hopes of gathering information leading to the apprehension of 38-year-old Ceyhan Dinler. Authorities disclosed that Dinler fled the country after fatally stabbing Cumali Turhan in Chelmsford, Essex, back in November 2024.
Cumali Turhan, aged 45, was viciously stabbed in the neck and tortured on November 19, 2024, after Dinler discovered his secret relationship with Dinler’s girlfriend. Evidence presented in court indicated that the two men were seen together at a pub shortly before the tragic incident. The victim’s body was later found with parts of his tongue and genitals mutilated and disposed of in a bin at a landfill site in Colchester.
Efforts to locate Mr. Turhan’s body were extensive, spanning 47 days, before eventually being found at the landfill. In a separate trial, Ciprian Ilie, 44, was convicted of aiding in the suspected murder of Mr. Turhan and obstructing the proper burial of his body. Ilie received a seven-year prison sentence for his involvement in disposing of the victim’s body in a bin.
Crimestoppers’ Eastern Regional Manager, Phil Breckton, assured complete anonymity to anyone providing information on Dinler’s whereabouts, emphasizing the importance of justice for Cumali Turhan’s family. A Channel 4 documentary titled “Catching a Killer: Buried Truths” recently aired footage showing Turhan and Dinler at a bar just before the suspected murder, shedding light on the events leading up to the tragic incident.
The investigation revealed that Dinler likely led Turhan to a nearby bar where the fatal stabbing occurred. Detectives uncovered blood evidence and the suspect’s fingerprint, linking Dinler to the crime scene. Authorities described the incident as an extreme act of violence, involving torture and multiple stab wounds.
Information relevant to the case can be anonymously provided to Crimestoppers, with the reward offer set to expire on 6 April.
